Fun Day at Shell Beach, San Felipe, Baja, Mexico

There is the belief that if you come to San Felipe Baja, you must be prepared for the thrill of the desert trails and the freedom provided by off road vehicles.  This belief is true, but you can also enjoy miles of pristine sandy beaches full of shells for you to choose from and with the most beautiful weather all year round. 

One of the most popular sites for finding magnificent shells is the famous Shell Beach located to the south of San Felipe at kilometer twenty-six (26).  If you are planning visit Shell Beach via beach access, you will find it just past Laguna Percebu – a small community made notable by the many solar homes and restaurant there. 

Shell Beach is a breath taking experience.  To be able to walk on miles of beach at low tide, to fill your lungs with the fresh air of the Sea of Cortez, to enjoy nature at its best and pick the most beautiful shells, to treat yourself and your loved ones with these special treasures is a gift in itself.  However, the best part of all, is the relaxing environment provided by the surrounding nature.

Peace and quiet is the most precious gift San Felipe can give to its visitors and is the perfect backdrop for enjoying family time, or time with your significant other or loved ones.  Walking the beaches of San Felipe, collecting shells, connecting yourself with the energy of the cosmos deposited by the immense starlit skies every night is the best therapy anyone can have. You deserve to be pampered, so next time you travel to San Felipe remember to check the local tide calendar to ensure that you pick the most optimum hours of the day for shell picking.

San Felipe has the advantage of being located to the north end of the Baja California peninsula.  Just a few miles of the Colorado River delta permits two tides in a twenty four hour period which makes it possible to plan your shell picking excursion for the morning or the late afternoon.  But don’t forget to make sure that you bring a bucket or plenty of bags to fill!
