I have to admit it: one of my favorite dates is the tequila festival in San Felipe.
This Tequila festival has been in san Felipe for quite a while and has become a very welcome tradition, this year’s festival was held on March 22nd to the 24th (it doesn’t have a fixed date). This Mexican party always has music for all ages, according to the program mariachi Mexican music is a must. But also it might include different local talents as well a famous guests and even rock music. Everything so you can experience a great time attending the festival.
This is a very attractive event for natives and visitors alike, you will feel it in the air and not only for the tequila, also the warmt of its people and perfect weather. The vendors always willing to share their knowledge of the agave plant elixir, and the whole process from taking care of the plant on the farms all the way to the distillery and bottling process.
It might seem like this festival is meant for adults only but as any other activity at the sea wall in down town (Malecon) it’s for the whole family, and always coordinated with different activities. This year, a swimming competition was introduced right in the Sea of Cortez. Categories spanned acroos little kids all the way to adults.
Also you will find artisan food stands, typical Mexican clothing from all over Mexico, including some ancestral, exotic, delicious Mexican dishes.
Among the tequilas and agave based liquors you’ll find a lot of different varieties as well as tequila based mixed drinks like vampiro, there are tequila cream as they call it, and wonderful agave liquors with coffee.
Prices start from $10.00 usd a bottle for mixed margaritas, and increase in price for the most refined and exclusive tequilas. Just in case you are a tequila collector here is where you can request the rarest collection of tequila bottles.
Come and try an infinity of option for you to choose and I’m fairly sure that you will end buying more than one bottle and a satisfaction smile on your face.
Trust me it’s a great experience to enjoy the taste of a Mexican fiesta with a sip of tequila time to time.
